EOS members helped design this locally produced and inexpensive water valve to ensure these Malians were not part of the one billion people that lack access to safe, clean, drinking water.

Our Experience
The founders of EOS International each bring their own unique development experiences to the group. We have an international background and have worked in Brazil, China, Honduras, Mali, Nicaragua, and Uganda.

We have worked on development projects including: sustainable building design, off-grid lighting systems, generating renewable energy with biogas digesters and solar energy systems, biomass cook stoves, appropriate water valve solutions, sustainable agriculture and gardens, and ethanol production from sugar cane.

Notable experiences for EOS include:
  • Designing a water valve for a rural Malian village with local materials, implementing the valve in their water system and teaching the villagers how to maintain and fix the valve.
  • Building biogas digesters in Nicaragua and working with local villagers to assess effectiveness and interest in leveraging the technology throughout surrounding villages.
  • Working side by side wtih children in Uganda, creating a garden for their school and teaching them the principles of gardening and sustainable agriculture.
  • Researching renewable energy methods and alternatives available for sub-Saharan Africa and gaining hands-on experience testing these methods in the field.
Two of our founders are currently on long-term assignments in the developing world gaining invaluable experience for EOS every day. Chris is in Uganda until the summer of 2009 studying Renewable Energy at Makerere University, volunteering as a schoolteacher, and connecting with local NGOs. Follow his time in Uganda by reading Chris's blog.

Wes began his two-year Peace Corps assignment in September 2008. Along from his agriculture work, he will be organizing a micro-loan program to help local entrepreneurs start and expand their enterprises. Wes will be organizing projects for EOS International to work in his village throughout his time there. Follow his time in Nicaragua by reading Wes's blog.
